A segment on Detroit's Fox 2 News Good Day Detroit devolved into uncontrollable laughter last week when anchor Deena Centofanti made an unintentionally risqué remark about contestants on the History Channel show "Alone" eating beaver for sustenance.
Centofanti, who had recently returned from a two-month break, was discussing the reality show's premise, which follows participants as they hunt and catch wildlife for food in frozen conditions. "And you're looking for fat, in the beaver," she stated, aiming to describe the animal's nutritional value.
Her co-anchor, Ryan Ermanni, and meteorologist Derek Kevra immediately recognized the suggestive double meaning of the word. Kevra responded with a mischievous "yeah," while Ermanni struggled to maintain composure.
As Centofanti continued, explaining that "the beaver is the most sought-after" due to its fat and meat content, the laughter escalated. Kevra added, "It made them all sick, though. They all got sick after it," further fueling the humor.
Ermanni eventually succumbed to the laughter, burying his face in his hands. Centofanti, initially unaware of the double entendre, eventually caught on and continued to play along, even asking Ermanni if he thought he could eat beaver. She also noted that one should avoid eating diseased animals, referencing Kevra's comment.
When Centofanti asked about eating moose, Ermanni, still struggling to regain his composure, admitted he knew nothing about the show but found her commentary highly amusing.
Ermanni later shared the clip on social media, where it quickly gained viral traction. Centofanti, acknowledging the show's educational aspect, quipped, "Watching the show 'Alone' - you learn stuff."
