Little Spoon has introduced a new benchmark for transparency in the U.S. infant formula market by publishing batch-level testing results. The company's Organic Whole Milk Infant Formula, launched in March, is now subject to scrutiny beyond standard FDA requirements, with all batches tested against over 552 contaminants.
This initiative marks Little Spoon as the first U.S. formula company to publicly disclose its own detailed safety standards and share lot-specific test results, allowing parents to view the analysis for the exact can of formula they purchase. The brand also maintains a zero-tolerance release policy, rejecting any batch that does not meet its established criteria.
Co-Founder and CEO Ben Lewis stated in a press release that the company chose to exceed regulatory and industry standards by making testing thresholds and batch-level results visible. "Parents shouldn’t have to take safety claims at face value, and we’re proud to make our standards visible, not just stated," Lewis emphasized.
The formula itself is formulated to closely mirror the composition of breast milk. It is dual-certified EU and USDA organic and independently tested for quality, purity, and safety. Key ingredients include whole milk sourced from grass-fed cows in New Zealand, chosen for its nutrient-rich pastures. The formula also incorporates all five nucleotides found in breast milk, which are crucial for infant growth and development, as well as prebiotic fiber to support gut health and the immune system. DHA and ARA are included at levels consistent with breast milk averages, alongside L-Carnitine, an amino acid important for energy conversion that is mandated in European infant formula but often absent in U.S. products.
Little Spoon's formula is also free from corn syrup, synthetic colors, and other unnecessary additives. The company positions its approach as providing greater peace of mind for parents selecting infant nutrition.
The premium formula is priced starting at $30 per can, with subscription options offering up to a 10% discount. New customers are also eligible for a complimentary two-can trial, subject to availability.
