A leopard that attacked three men was eventually captured and released back into the wild after being trapped inside an alcohol shop in Rajasthan, India. The animal entered the shop in Todaraisingh on Sunday morning, leaping through the open door and attacking the shopkeeper, Sanjay Gurjar, 25.

During the scuffle, Gurjar attempted to fend off the animal with a chair but was ultimately bitten on the shoulder and sustained claw injuries to his hand and nose. He managed to push the leopard away and escape through the front door, immediately pulling down the shop's shutters to trap the animal inside. Gurjar lost consciousness shortly after securing the shop.

Sanjay Gurjar, 25, had been tending to his alcohol shop when the leopard pounced on him and tried to sink its teeth into his shoulder

CCTV footage showed the leopard pacing inside the store, knocking over bottles before settling under a counter. Police cordoned off the area and closed the nearby market while awaiting animal specialists. The leopard, believed to be a five-year-old male, was tranquilized about five hours later. After undergoing medical checks, it was returned to the wild.

Virender Singh Krishniya, deputy conservator of forests, stated that the leopard likely approached the town in search of prey. The attack on Gurjar was not the first; earlier the same morning, the leopard had attacked Fateh Lal Koli, 40, and a forest volunteer identified as Rakesh. Both men sustained injuries before the leopard fled into Gurjar's shop.
