LeBron James has signed a two-year contract worth $8 million with the Philadelphia 76ers, a move that brings the veteran superstar to the Eastern Conference. The 41-year-old forward expressed that he had contemplated retirement at the end of the past season but ultimately decided he still had a desire to compete and win.

"I still truly love this game, and I have more to give," James stated on X, formerly Twitter. "This is my last decision. I’m not going for money. I’m not going for family…I still want to sacrifice. I still want to work. I still want to grind. I still want to compete, to win and to have a chance at the feeling of winning another championship."

James joins a 76ers roster that includes All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey and fellow recent acquisition Jaylen Brown. The team also features center Joel Embiid, who has been a face of the franchise, and VJ Edgecombe, a projected 2025 lottery pick. The 76ers last won an NBA championship in 1983.

Last season, Philadelphia finished with a 45-37 record, reaching the Eastern Conference Semifinals before being swept by the eventual NBA champions.

As the 2026-27 NBA season approaches, two preseason games featuring the 76ers against the Boston Celtics have been announced. The first game is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 10, at Boston's TD Garden, with tickets starting at $184. The second game will take place Friday, Oct. 16, at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, where ticket prices begin at $471.

The Philadelphia 76ers' projected starting lineup for the upcoming season includes Tyrese Maxey at point guard, V.J. Edgecombe at shooting guard, Jaylen Brown at small forward, LeBron James at power forward, and Joel Embiid at center. The team's roster also features players such as Anfernee Simons, Caleb Love, MarJon Beauchamp, and Jabari Walker, among others.
