Knicks Suspend Ticket Sales After Pricing Error
The team will resume sales early next week with prices approximately 12% higher than last season.
The New York Knicks have suspended individual ticket sales due to an internal pricing error that led to exorbitant prices for upcoming games, including the season opener. Sales are expected to resume early next week with adjusted prices.
An MSG spokesperson confirmed the pause in sales, stating, "We are pausing Knicks individual ticket sales due to a mistake in our pricing." The team plans to revert to last season's prices with an average increase of 12%, mirroring the hike for season-ticket holders.
Fans who had already purchased tickets at the inflated prices will receive refunds for the difference. "Our intention was never to overcharge our loyal fans, and we thank everyone for their support of the Knicks and their patience as we get this right," the spokesperson added.
The error resulted in some tickets, particularly for the season opener against the Sixers, being listed with minimum prices exceeding $1,000, far above the corrected average of $2,500 for opening night. This marks the first such pricing error for MSG.
The team's pricing policy has evolved since the arrival of Jalen Brunson, with ticket prices increasing as the Knicks have made the playoffs for four consecutive seasons, culminating in last season's championship run. MSG and the Knicks have previously implemented programs like "Fan First" to combat ticket price gouging by brokers.
