Katie Miller, wife of President Donald Trump's newly named Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, has publicly defended her husband following remarks made by Michigan's Senator-elect Abdul El-Sayed.
In an appearance on ABC's "This Week," El-Sayed described Stephen Miller as a pick of "the most broken man to continue to run the most dysfunctional White House that we've seen." He further questioned Miller's contributions to culture and society, accusing him of stoking fear and vitriol, and weaponizing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Katie Miller responded via X, stating, "Stephen has contributed far more to America at 41 than Abdul El-Sayed will in a lifetime." She accompanied her statement with a photograph of her husband with their children. Reports indicate Katie Miller had actively advocated for her husband's appointment as Chief of Staff in recent weeks.
This exchange is not the first between El-Sayed and Stephen Miller. Previously, Miller had questioned El-Sayed's allegiance to the United States during a Fox News interview, raising concerns about El-Sayed's sister and her family background. El-Sayed, who is set to become the first Muslim Senator from America, was born to Egyptian immigrant parents.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries also expressed reservations about Stephen Miller's appointment as Chief of Staff. Speaking on ABC's "This Week," Jeffries indicated that he did not foresee opportunities to work with Miller, contrasting it with past instances of finding common ground with former Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.
