Former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt has publicly corrected an online critic who mistook a photo of her midterm ballot for a mail-in vote. Leavitt shared a selfie after casting her ballot in New Hampshire on Tuesday, sporting an "I Voted" sticker.
Leavitt posted an image of her completed ballot, indicating she voted for Republican candidates Kelly Ayotte for Governor, John E. Sununu for U.S. Senator, and Anthony DiLorenzo for Congress. A user on X (formerly Twitter) responded to the post, suggesting her willingness to vote by mail contradicted her previous criticisms of the system.
"This isn't a mail in ballot. I took this picture of my ballot at the voting booth. Get lost!" Leavitt wrote in response, clarifying that she voted in person. She has previously expressed strong criticism of mail-in voting systems, citing concerns about potential fraud during her tenure.
Following the exchange, Leavitt shared a link to the Republican National Committee's election integrity website, encouraging followers to report potential voter fraud or irregularities. Leavitt, who has two children, primarily resides in New Hampshire but also maintains a home in Washington D.C.
Leavitt previously ran for the House of Representatives in New Hampshire's first congressional district but lost to the incumbent Democrat. She stepped down as White House press secretary in August 2024, a role she held after President Trump's second-term victory. She later announced she would join Fox News as a contributor.
Millions of Americans participated in the midterms, with polls closing between 6 p.m. and 1 a.m. ET, after which vote counts began to determine control of Congress.
