Country music star Kacey Musgraves has canceled three dates for her upcoming "Middle of Nowhere" tour, including the scheduled opening night in Chicago on August 20. The cancellations also affect shows in Boston on August 29 and Brooklyn on September 2.

Fans received notifications about the canceled performances via email from Ticketmaster. As of Saturday, no official reason was provided by Musgraves or her representatives for the sudden cancellations. The North American leg of the tour was slated to begin in Chicago and visit 25 cities before concluding in Seattle in late October. Musgraves is also scheduled to perform in Australia in January 2027, followed by dates in England and Scotland in February.

Musgraves, 37, released her sixth studio album, also titled "Middle of Nowhere," on May 1. She previously described the album's creation as occurring during "the longest single period" of her life, during which she found comfort in solitude and the concept of liminal spaces, both geographical and emotional. She elaborated that she became at ease "sitting in the un-comfort of the undefined" and leaned into activities like horseback riding, humor, and writing with collaborators.

The cancellations by Musgraves follow a recent trend of artists canceling tour dates. Earlier this week, Harry Styles canceled a concert in São Paulo, Brazil, due to a "health issue." In May, the Pussycat Dolls canceled their North American reunion tour, with reports suggesting poor ticket sales as a factor. Post Malone and Meghan Trainor have also canceled tour dates this year, with speculation linking these cancellations to low ticket sales, a phenomenon sometimes referred to as "Blue Dot Fever."
