In a segment addressing the upcoming midterm elections, "Last Week Tonight" host John Oliver highlighted what he described as the "truly ugly and sometimes plain weird" level of bigotry exhibited by some Republican candidates.

Oliver urged viewers to vote, stating that "the bigger the results for Democrats on Tuesday, the harder they’ll be for Trump to litigate or deny." He cautioned that former President Donald Trump would likely claim election rigging if results were unfavorable, regardless of the margin.

Oliver noted that Trump has actively sought to make the midterms a referendum on himself. "We’re now almost halfway through his second term. He’s had both the House and the Senate on his side the entire time. And look where it’s got us," Oliver stated.

He concluded with a fervent plea for action, emphasizing the stakes and the opportunity to "apply some fucking brakes."
