Former WWE star John Cena has undergone a second round of hair transplant procedures, sharing a recent bald photo from the Anderson Center for Hair in Atlanta. Cena is undergoing Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), a minimally invasive technique where hair follicles are transplanted from one part of the scalp to thinning areas.
Cena, 49, began his hair restoration journey in 2024, citing taunts from WWE fans about his receding hairline as motivation. "I saw their signs that said ‘The bald John Cena,’" he told People in August. "They pushed me into going to see what my options were."
His current regimen includes red-light therapy, minoxidil, vitamins, and specialized shampoo and conditioner. He received his first hair transplant in November 2024. Cena expressed regret that he didn't pursue the procedure sooner, stating, "I hate the fact that if there wasn’t so much shame around it, I’d have gotten it done 10 years ago."
He believes the procedure has already significantly impacted his life and career prospects, particularly in acting. While a shaved head isn't a requirement for the transplant, Cena opted for a full commitment to achieve optimal results.
Cena's wrestling career recently concluded with his submission loss to Gunther in his final match on "Saturday Night’s Main Event" in December. This marked only the fourth time in his career he had tapped out. The match served as the culmination of his year-long retirement tour, which included 36 appearances and 15 matches.
He is now focusing on his acting career, with roles in films such as "The Suicide Squad" and "Ricky Stanicky." Cena is also attached to "Matchbox: The Movie," where he is set to play the character Sean. The film is scheduled for release on October 9, 2026.
