Conservative Jewish activist Lizzy Benichou stated she will not be silenced after being shoved to the ground during a debate on the University of Michigan's Ann Arbor campus. Benichou told "Fox & Friends" that the incident, which occurred Sunday, will not dissuade her activism.
According to Benichou, the confrontation began when a woman approached her group during an open debate. Benichou recounted that the woman struck another conservative influencer in the face with her phone before turning her attention to Benichou.
"She slapped Joe [Redden] in the face with her phone. Then she came up towards me and I told her, 'You would not be able to do this in Iran,'" Benichou said, referencing the freedom of speech issues in Iran. She further explained that fellow conservative influencer Cam Higby had commented on the woman's attire, prompting the escalation.
Benichou reported feeling sore after the fall, describing it as a "hard fall." The incident took place amid heightened political discourse in Michigan, with a closely watched Senate race drawing attention to various political and cultural divisions.
Benichou indicated that her presence at the campus was partly motivated by a desire to discuss the political affiliations and campaign funding of Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed with students.
