The New York Jets will be without rookie pass rusher David Bailey and running back Breece Hall for their matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. Bailey, the team's top draft pick, is sidelined with a strained groin, while Hall continues to recover from a quadriceps injury.
Bailey, who has played in all seven games this season, suffered his injury in the previous week's loss to the Dolphins. He has been a significant contributor for the Jets, leading the team with 5 ½ sacks, nine quarterback hits, and seven tackles for loss. He also has three forced fumbles and 35 tackles.
If Raiders rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza does not play, this game would feature neither of the top two picks from the 2026 NFL Draft on the field, as Mendoza was the No. 1 overall selection and Bailey went at No. 2.
Hall will miss his fifth consecutive game due to the quadriceps injury he sustained in Week 3 against the Lions. In the three games he played this season, Hall accumulated 163 rushing yards on 53 carries for an average of 3.2 yards per carry and one touchdown.
Braelon Allen has stepped in for Hall, rushing for 418 yards and two touchdowns on 91 carries, averaging 4.6 yards per carry.
The absence of Bailey, coupled with defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat being placed on injured reserve with a knee injury, weakens the Jets' run defense. The team has struggled against the run since Week 3, allowing an average of 153 rushing yards per game, ranking 31st in the NFL during that span. For the season, the Jets entered Sunday's game allowing an average of 127.7 rushing yards per game, placing them 24th in the league.
Rookie Darrell Jackson Jr. is expected to start at defensive tackle in place of Sweat and see an increased role. The Jets also promoted defensive tackles Payton Page and Quinton Bell from the practice squad to bolster the defensive line depth, which has already been affected by David Onyemata's core muscle surgery in Week 3.
