Jessica Lange has spoken out about a long-standing issue she had with FX, the production company behind "American Horror Story," describing them as "too fucking cheap" for not providing car service for actors during the filming of "American Horror Story: Coven."
Lange, who reprised her role on the anthology series this fall after a significant absence, shared the anecdote during a panel with co-star Sarah Paulson at New York's PaleyFest. She recalled that cast members were often required to drive themselves home from the New Orleans set in the early morning hours, sometimes parking on French Quarter streets.
While Paulson reacted with laughter, Lange's comments highlight a specific point of contention from her time on the show. Representatives for FX did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Lange's return for the series' 13th season marks her first appearance as a regular since "American Horror Story: Freak Show" (2014-2015). She previously made a brief return in 2018 to reprise her "Murder House" character, Constance Langdon.
Despite her past statements suggesting little interest in returning to "AHS," Lange revealed that a conversation with co-creator Ryan Murphy convinced her to come back. She had expressed a desire to play multiple characters, which Murphy ultimately facilitated.
Lange has maintained a professional relationship with Murphy, having also appeared in his series "Feud: Bette and Joan" (2017) and "The Politician" (2019).
