Jeremy Clarkson, the 66-year-old star of "Clarkson's Farm," has once again posted his traditional A-level results tweet, aiming to reassure students by highlighting his own academic shortcomings. Clarkson revealed he received a C and two U grades in his A-levels, but countered this by noting his subsequent success, including owning a farm and brewery.
Clarkson's annual message, which he has posted for over a decade, has become a notable part of A-level results day for many. This year, he tweeted: "Don't worry if your A level results are a bit disappointing. I got a C and two Us. And this evening I shall sit in my agreeable garden, drinking beer from my own brewery and eating food from my own farm. Prepared by my own chef."
His tradition of contrasting poor academic results with lavish successes has evolved over the years. Previous iterations of the tweet have mentioned owning luxury cars, holidaying in exotic locations, and owning a pub. Last year, he tweeted about installing a helicopter landing pad in his garden. In 2024, he referenced his Cotswolds pub, The Farmer's Dog, which opened that August. The previous year, he highlighted his brewery.
In earlier posts, Clarkson mentioned sitting in a villa in St. Tropez or on a superyacht in the Mediterranean. He has also referenced his Bentley, choosing which Range Rover to drive, having a chef prepare him truffles, and renting a chateau in France for the summer.
This year's message comes as students are receiving their A-level results, with top grades rising for the third consecutive year. Outside of the pandemic years (2020-2022), when grades were inflated due to teacher assessments, the current results mark a record high. Overall, 28.5% of entries achieved at least an A grade, up from previous years. A* grades were awarded to 9.6% of entries. University admissions also saw a record number of applicants accepted on courses.
Despite his successful ventures, Clarkson recently shared frustrations related to his farm and rural life. He posted on social media that the harvest at his Diddly Squat Farm was "f***ed" due to the country preparing for its fifth heatwave, with temperatures in the high 20s and expected to reach the mid-30s Celsius. This situation has led to warnings from the National Farmers' Union about potential food shortages and calls for government tax breaks on water storage systems for farmers.
Additionally, Clarkson expressed disappointment at being unable to see the recent solar eclipse from his home in the Cotswolds, sharing a picture of a bright sun blob over his fields and noting, "We didn’t get the eclipse in Chipping Norton."
