Jennifer Garner has offered rare praise for her ex-husband, Ben Affleck, describing him as an "incredible" co-parent to their three children. The comments come eight years after the couple finalized their divorce.
Garner, 54, spoke about Affleck, 53, in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, addressing the challenges of balancing a Hollywood career with motherhood. "But my kids are a little bigger [now]. Their dad has become this incredible co-parent," she said. "When [my kids] were younger, I wouldn’t have done a couple of weeks away without taking them with me. Now they’re in high school. You can’t really do that anymore. But they can stay with their dad. He’s wonderful. He takes care of them. He’s a great partner in that way. And that’s very freeing."
Garner and Affleck were married from 2005 until their separation in 2015, with their divorce finalized in 2018. The pair have maintained an amicable relationship, often seen running errands with their children—Violet, 20, Fin, 17, and Samuel, 14—and have been known to spend holidays together.
In a Father's Day Instagram post, Garner shared photos of Affleck with their children, writing, "I see the way my kids dote on their dad and I’m happy for them. To love and be loved by a great dad is a gift."
Affleck was married to Jennifer Lopez from 2022 to 2024. He also shares a bond with Lopez's twins, Oskar and Max Muñiz, and Lopez has remained involved in Affleck's children's lives. In June, Lopez was seen attending an Ariana Grande concert in Los Angeles with Affleck's child Fin and one of her twins, Oskar.
In a 2025 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Affleck spoke highly of Lopez, stating, "For the record, Jennifer Lopez is spectacular, great to my kids, [and has a] great ongoing relationship with them. I love her kids. They're wonderful. She's [an] enormously important, tremendous person with a lot of integrity, who I adore and am grateful to."
