TV personality Jake Quickenden is embarking on a new chapter, opening the doors to his new home following his split from wife Sophie Church earlier this year. Quickenden, who shares two sons, Leo, five, and 16-month-old Kit, with Church, admitted to feeling a mix of terror and excitement about the move.
In a video shared on Instagram, Quickenden showed off the empty property, noting that while it's nearly ready to move in, floors need finishing and furniture is required. "It's petrifying," he stated, referring to the prospect of making the new house a home for his sons. He expressed concern about ensuring the boys feel comfortable in their new surroundings, acknowledging that the move represents a significant life change.
Quickenden described the situation as "two steps back to go four forward," reflecting on a life plan that has shifted unexpectedly. Despite the uncertainty, he expressed optimism about creating a good life in the new place, calling it "all very exciting and a new chapter."
In the accompanying caption, he elaborated on his feelings, stating, "I’m not good on my own, never have been but maybe that’s part of the journey to get comfortable alone for a while! It’s a strange feeling of excitement and anxiety, looking forward to making it my own but terrified to not be with the boys everyday." He added that the boys are accustomed to him being away for work and that they can visit his new place and find him happy and in his own space. Quickenden emphasized his strong co-parenting relationship with Church, stating it will remain their priority and that the boys are their world.
Previously, Quickenden revealed that he and Sophie had "grown apart" and that their marriage had become "hard to function." He announced their separation in June, explaining that they had tried to keep the news private to process it while involving their children. He described Sophie as an "amazing person and mother" and expressed respect and love for her, wishing her happiness.
Quickenden and Sophie, an influencer, reportedly began their relationship in June 2018. He proposed in 2021, and they married in September 2022. The couple's focus now is on co-parenting their children amicably. Quickenden mentioned that they already communicate about the children and he wishes Sophie the best. He asked for kindness towards both parties during this difficult time.
In the months following the split, Quickenden shared a shirtless selfie on Instagram, seemingly embracing his new status, and posted a message about having "hope in dark times." He also shared a gallery of photos with his sons, calling them "My boys…. My world!!" He expressed his appreciation for support, stating that his children are all that matter.
