Missé Beqiri, the ex-partner of the late Jake Hall, has spoken about feeling "haunted" by their separation and her grief after his death. Hall, known for his appearances on The Only Way Is Essex (TOWIE), died last month at the age of 35 from injuries sustained when he smashed his head through a glass door at a villa in Mallorca.
In an interview on the We Need To Talk podcast, Beqiri, 39, who shares an eight-year-old daughter, River, with Hall, questioned whether he would still be alive if they had not split. The couple were previously engaged in May 2018, but Hall was later given a restraining order following a dispute. Despite this, they later maintained a positive co-parenting relationship.
"It is haunting me now," Beqiri stated. "I'm going to be honest with you – that I'm like, 'Would this have ever happened if I didn't leave?' Like, could I have stopped this to happen?"
Beqiri also revealed that she was in Mallorca at the same time Hall was found deceased. She had been booked for a modeling job in Ibiza but relocated to Mallorca after losing her passport, needing to visit the Swedish embassy there to be able to fly back to England. She received a call from Hall's father informing her of his death while she was in Mallorca, initially fearing something had happened to their daughter.
"The way he said Jake's name, I was like, he's in a hospital, he's in jail. Like the last thought for me was that he was gone… And he was like, 'he's dead'," Beqiri recalled. She described going into "total panic mode" and blaming herself.
Beqiri described telling their daughter River about Hall's death as the "worst thing she's ever had to do." She shared that River, who is now receiving therapy, has been struggling to process the loss, asking questions like, "Do people know I don't have a dad now?"
This loss is particularly difficult for Beqiri, who also lost her brother, Flamur Beqiri, in a fatal shooting on Christmas Eve in 2019. She reflected on the profound grief, stating, "How is this happening to me again?"
On Father's Day, Beqiri shared a tribute to both Hall and her brother, calling them "two men, dads, sons, brothers." She expressed her love and gratitude for them, acknowledging the importance of family and friends.
Hall gained fame on the reality TV series TOWIE in 2015. Following his death, his family announced the launch of The Choose Everything Foundation in his memory, with proceeds directed towards the foundation and his daughter River. His funeral was described as an "unconventional" immersive celebration of his life, featuring an exhibition of his paintings and a tribute to his fashion career.
