Jack Antonoff References Split from Margaret Qualley During Concert
The musician quipped 'Read the news, brother' after a fan requested a song about marriage.
Musician Jack Antonoff indirectly addressed his recent separation from actress Margaret Qualley during a performance on September 15 at The Troubadour in Los Angeles. When a fan requested his 2017 song "Let's Get Married," Antonoff responded with a lighthearted refusal.
"Absolutely not," Antonoff stated, according to a social media video. "Read the news, brother." He then laughed and clarified, "I love that song and I wrote it, like, 11 years ago."
Antonoff and Qualley confirmed their separation in July, after three years of marriage. A representative for Qualley told TMZ on July 10 that "no infidelity" and "no trust issues" were factors in the end of their marriage. Sources also indicated to Page Six in late July that the couple had "no plans to reconcile" and were "done for good," though they remained in respectful communication.
The pair were last publicly seen together at the Grammy Awards on February 1. Their separation occurred less than a month before their third wedding anniversary. Antonoff and Qualley, who have an 11-year age difference, were first romantically linked in August 2021 and appeared together at the Critics' Choice Awards in March 2022.
Prior to their split, Qualley posted a birthday message to Antonoff on Instagram on March 31, calling him "sweetheart." However, by April 28, she had changed her Instagram handle back to her legal name and removed photos from their wedding. Antonoff had also drawn attention by attending Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's July wedding festivities with his sister, Rachel, as his date.
Antonoff, known for his work with artists like Taylor Swift, produced Swift's albums "Midnights" (2022) and "The Tortured Poets Department" (2024). Swift's most recent album, however, was produced by Max Martin and Shellback. Antonoff wrote "Let's Get Married" during his previous relationship with Lena Dunham, whom he dated from 2012 to 2017. Dunham recently announced the birth of her daughter via surrogate.
The musician's past relationships also include photographer Carlotta Kohl and actress Scarlett Johansson. Qualley was previously linked to Nat Wolff, Pete Davidson, and Shia LaBeouf. Qualley is set to appear in Ridley Scott's film "The Dog Stars," as well as Amazon's "Love of Your Life" and Neon's "King Snake."
