Beth Stern, wife of radio personality Howard Stern, has spoken about her husband's upcoming streaming program on HBO Max, describing it as a "wonderful" development that also benefits their personal life.
Howard Stern is slated to begin broadcasting one new live weekly show on his Sirius XM channel, Howard 100. This change follows the recent announcement that his program will also stream on HBO Max each week, with new episodes debuting on Thursdays. The radio icon, 72, has been reducing his weekly output, previously airing two shows and now shifting to one live broadcast on SiriusXM.
"It's actually great for me, because he's now going to start only working one day a week," Beth Stern, 54, told The Daily Mail. "So I get more Howard at home and he's still connected to the world, so it's a win-win for all of us."
SiriusXM’s President and Chief Content Officer Scott Greenstein expressed enthusiasm for the new venture, stating, "There’s simply no one like Howard, and the start of his new season is another exciting chapter in an extraordinary run." He added that the company is "proud ... that Howard, HBO Max and SiriusXM have now teamed up to create a compelling new video version of his show."
The shift to a weekly show and a single SiriusXM channel has led to a reduction in staff, with a reported 12 employees laid off over the summer, including writer Benjy Bronk.
Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Stern has primarily worked from a studio in his Hamptons home. Beth Stern indicated that they largely remain in the Hamptons but travel is sometimes necessary.
In addition to discussing her husband's professional changes, Beth Stern also spoke about her own activities. While attending the Alice + Olivia fashion show at 583 Park Avenue during New York Fashion Week, she mentioned juggling the event with her volunteer work as an animal foster. "I have 37 foster kittens in the foster room, so I'm literally coming to this and rushing right back to the house because there are kittens that need me," she said.
She also shared details about Stern's personal gestures, noting he continues to paint pictures for her, often of their animals. Currently, he is reportedly working on a butterfly painting for her.
Howard Stern is scheduled to return to his SiriusXM show on Monday, with the first HBO Max episode dropping on September 17.
