Coles and Principal Darius Robinson made the decision to cancel the team's upcoming football game following unsportsmanlike conduct exhibited by some players during their recent match against Apple Valley High School. The forfeiture is intended to send a clear message about sportsmanship.

During the game, which Victor Valley won 20-7, several Victor Valley players reportedly taunted their Apple Valley rivals with obscene gestures and language. The team mascot also joined in the taunting directed at both players and fans. Game officials were reportedly unable to control the behavior.

This decision underscores a broader concern about declining sportsmanship in youth athletics.
