Fox News host Dana Perino suggested that political movements, including the one centered around former President Donald Trump, are not permanent. "No political movement lasts forever," Perino said on "The Five" during a panel discussion following the midterm elections, which saw Democrats regain control of both the House and Senate.

Perino noted that Trump's political movement has lasted longer than some might have expected due to an "interruption" during the Biden administration, implying a potential longevity beyond a single presidential term.

"And President Trump’s was longer because of the interruption in his two terms, right? Because of the Biden thing. So it’s a much longer time," Perino stated.

She indicated that the Republican Party is looking ahead to a period of reassessment. "I would say no political movement lasts forever... The Republican Party is looking forward to reassessing its future with a full-throated debate," she added.

Perino also commented on potential future Republican presidential candidates, noting that she does not know how many individuals will run and that Vice President JD Vance and Senator Ted Cruz are already signaling their potential ambitions. Cruz had previously posted a post-midterms analysis, acknowledging reasons for voter frustration, similar to Vance's own post-election commentary.

Her remarks contrasted with those of some other Fox News personalities, including host Jesse Watters, who lamented the GOP's performance and suggested Trump's messaging on affordability had been a factor in the losses. Trump himself has offered various explanations for the midterm outcomes.
