Singer-songwriter Linda Perhacs, 82, has been missing for approximately eight months after being discharged from a healthcare facility, her music co-producer Fernando Perdomo told Page Six. Perdomo expressed concern that the artist, known for her acclaimed psychedelic folk music, may have been abandoned.
Perdomo stated that his "biggest fear is that she was just dropped off on the street somewhere." He attempted to obtain more information from the healthcare facility but was informed by staff that they could not disclose the address of the home to which Perhacs had been transferred. The facility reportedly stated that they do not allow patients to be discharged without a "proper place to live," a detail Perdomo found vague.
Perdomo recalled his close professional relationship with Perhacs, which began in 2012 when he cold-emailed her. He described their collaboration as an "organic situation" that led to the creation of music that resonated with audiences. Perhacs achieved significant career milestones in her 70s, securing two record deals and touring internationally.
The last time Perdomo saw Perhacs was in September 2024, celebrating her 80th birthday at her healthcare facility. He noted that she had been experiencing memory loss, which prompted him to be cautious about visits to avoid causing confusion. Approximately six weeks prior to Perhacs's disappearance being revealed, Perdomo recorded a podcast episode dedicated to her. He contacted the memory care center to inform Perhacs about the podcast, only to learn that she had been discharged by her next of kin eight months earlier.
Efforts to contact Perhacs's caretaker have been unsuccessful. Perdomo has filed a report with Adult Protective Services and a missing persons report with the LAPD. The LAPD has not confirmed the missing persons report when contacted by Page Six. The Adult Protective Services Program of the County of Los Angeles stated that they cannot disclose information about specific individuals due to confidentiality laws but confirmed that they respond to reports of abuse, neglect, or unsafe living conditions and offer resources accordingly.
Another friend, Mark McNeill, echoed these concerns in an Instagram post, stating that Perhacs was discharged under the supervision of her legal guardian and that friends and collaborators have been unable to reach her or her guardian. McNeill urged anyone with information to contact Perhacs's former manager, Laurel Stearns.
