A 24-year-old Florida woman was arrested on August 30 in Daytona Beach on multiple felony charges after allegedly crashing her Ford Bronco into a parked vehicle and then assaulting its owner. Elizabeth Boucher faces charges including driving under the influence (DUI) with property damage, resisting an officer, battery, and possession of a controlled substance.
Video footage captured what appeared to be Boucher's approximately $50,000 SUV colliding with a parked Honda. The impact pushed the sedan onto the lawn of a nearby home. According to an affidavit cited by Law & Crime, officers initially observed Boucher struggling to stand and smelling of alcohol at the side of the road.
Bodycam footage showed Boucher handing an officer her passport when asked for her driver's license. She also reportedly attempted to enter a police car, stating she was hot. Officials reported that Boucher appeared surprised when informed she had been involved in a crash.
The owner of the damaged Honda told investigators that Boucher struck her in the face with a closed fist after the collision. The affidavit states the owner retaliated, knocking Boucher to the ground. Officers determined Boucher displayed signs of intoxication and attempted to arrest her after she refused a breathalyzer test.
During the interaction, Boucher reportedly pleaded with officers not to take her to jail, saying, "I thought we were all friends." An officer responded that while they might be friends, he still had a job to do.
Bodycam footage also showed Boucher walking away from officers after refusing the sobriety test. She was subsequently taken into custody. Charges against Boucher include DUI with property damage, resisting an officer without violence, battery, and possession of a Schedule II substance.
According to Law & Crime, Boucher was released from jail and is scheduled to appear in court on October 21. She was seen in an image with an altered-looking face, possibly from the altercation. Another image showed her speaking with law enforcement while appearing distressed.
