Florida Nurse Accused of Killing Newborn Son Faces New Allegations
Jessica Vlasac, arrested for her infant son's death, previously faced charges related to an altercation with her boyfriend.
A registered nurse in Florida has been arrested and charged in the death of her newborn son, August Lionel. Jessica Vlasac, 42, was taken into custody on Thursday at her home in Lakeland, Florida, in connection with the infant's death.
An autopsy report revealed that the baby suffered three separate head injuries and subdural hemorrhaging around his skull. According to jail records, Vlasac is not currently eligible for bond and is scheduled for a pre-trial detention hearing on Thursday.
Vlasac's arrest follows previous legal troubles. She was arrested last month after an argument with her boyfriend, Quinton Rosario, reportedly escalated. During that incident, their housemate called 911, expressing concern after hearing yelling and what sounded like "hitting on the walls."
Details about the circumstances surrounding the newborn's death are still emerging. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
