Florida Democratic Rep. Jared Moskowitz stated he is grateful that his home state does not have democratic socialists, contrasting it with recent primary election results in New York.
Moskowitz’s comments came after several candidates endorsed by the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) achieved victories in the New York primary races. He specifically mentioned the outcome in New York's 10th Congressional District, where DSA-backed candidates faced off against each other. Moskowitz expressed his relief that Florida's political landscape does not mirror these developments, suggesting a different ideological bent in the state's Democratic party compared to parts of New York.
The congressman implied that the political climate in Florida has, thus far, insulated it from the rise of democratic socialist candidates that has been observed in other urban areas.
