Filmmaker Michael Mann sustained a superficial injury on Saturday at a gun range in Los Angeles. A weapon accidentally discharged while holstered, according to his representative, who confirmed the injury to The Associated Press on Sunday. Mann, 83, was treated at a local hospital and is being released.
Mann, known for directing crime classics such as "Heat," "Collateral," and "Thief," has reportedly been an experienced target shooter for decades. The incident occurred at a sanctioned gun range.
Despite his age, Mann remains active in Hollywood. He most recently directed "Ferrari," starring Adam Driver, and is currently developing a sequel to "Heat," with filming anticipated to begin early next year.
