A nurse was killed by her boyfriend, a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol officer, in what police believe was a domestic dispute that ended in murder-suicide. The victim's father reportedly overheard the fatal gunshot while on the phone with his daughter.

Andrea Cantarini, 37, was speaking with her father Tuesday night when her boyfriend, Juan Cornelio Diaz, 38, allegedly shot her in the head inside her apartment in the Riverdale section of the Bronx around 9 p.m., according to the NYPD.

Diaz was later found to have sustained a gunshot wound to the head, police said. Cantarini was a nurse, and Diaz was stationed at JFK Airport.
