The summer transfer window is open until September 1, with clubs making moves to strengthen their squads ahead of the upcoming season. Among the developing stories, English clubs are reportedly pursuing several players.
Everton is in discussions with Arsenal regarding a potential £7 million transfer for midfielder Christian Norgaard. The 32-year-old Dane has been a target for Everton, particularly as an agreement for veteran Idrissa Gana Gueye's new contract appears unlikely, and James Garner faces a spell on the sidelines due to groin surgery. Norgaard would represent Everton's fourth summer signing, following the arrivals of Hayden Hackney, Tyrique George, and Merlin Rohl.
Last season, Norgaard made seven league appearances and 20 in all competitions for Arsenal, having joined from Brentford for £15 million the previous summer. He reportedly sought more playing time and had received offers from clubs in Turkey and Saudi Arabia but expressed a desire to remain in the Premier League. Arsenal is reportedly looking to bolster their midfield with the potential signing of Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United.
In addition to Norgaard, Everton is also in talks for Manchester United striker Ethan Wheatley. This move is viewed as one for the club's academy, with Everton's technical director Nick Cox having prior experience with Wheatley during his time at United's academy. The 20-year-old Wheatley spent last season on loan at Bradford City and had considered offers from abroad, including interest from Dutch side Cambuur.
Elsewhere, Hull City is reportedly positioned to sign Norwegian midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl, fending off competition from Rangers and Cardiff City. Cardiff had submitted a club-record offer for the 20-year-old from Tromsø, but Hull is offering the prospect of Premier League football. The 6-foot-4 defensive midfielder has captained Norway at youth levels and is a U21 international.
Hull City is also reportedly advancing in negotiations for 18-year-old center-back Lucas Herrington from Colorado Rapids and winger Mohamed-Ali Cho from Nice.
