Erika Kirk delivered an emotional address at Turning Point USA's headquarters on Friday, her first public remarks since her husband, conservative activist Charlie Kirk, was shot and killed earlier this week at an event on a Utah college campus. She vowed that the movement he built would continue and that she would ensure his name and work endure.
Standing beside the desk where her husband recorded his podcast, Erika Kirk said the organization’s fall campus tour will proceed as planned and that the group’s annual America Fest conference in December will also go forward. She said Charlie Kirk’s weekly podcast would continue and pledged to expand Turning Point USA’s activities in the years ahead.
Erika Kirk called those responsible for the killing “evildoers” and said they had miscalculated the effect of their actions. “You have no idea what you just have unleashed across this entire country,” she said, adding that her husband was killed because he preached “a message of patriotism, faith, and of God's merciful love.”
She told attendees and viewers across the country that Charlie Kirk’s voice and wisdom would endure. She said she had spoken with former President Donald Trump on Thursday and told him she intends to keep the organization her husband co-founded alive. In remarks that mixed personal recollection with public resolve, she recounted her husband’s devotion to family and his daily effort to be a better husband and father.
Charlie Kirk founded Turning Point USA in 2012 and had become a prominent figure in conservative politics, leading campus outreach efforts and hosting a widely followed podcast. He and Erika Kirk met in 2018 and had two young children.
Erika Kirk, who attended the event at Utah Valley University and was present when her husband was shot, is the host of a weekly podcast and leads several faith-based initiatives. In her remarks Friday she described her husband as a man who loved life and loved America, and she invoked religious language, saying he would “stand at His Savior’s side, wearing the glorious crown of a martyr.”
With supporters gathered publicly in the days following the killing, local and national officials have said the shooting is under investigation. Erika Kirk urged followers to carry forward her husband’s mission rather than allow it to be extinguished, and she promised to expand Turning Point USA’s footprint.
As she closed her remarks, Erika Kirk pledged, “I will never let your legacy die,” and said she would work to make Turning Point USA “the biggest thing that this nation has ever seen.” She returned repeatedly to themes of faith, resilience and continuity, asking attendees to remember Charlie Kirk’s life and to carry forward the organization’s activities.
Authorities have not released full details about the circumstances of the shooting or any suspects. Charlie Kirk’s death has prompted responses from political figures and supporters nationwide, and his organization said it would continue planned events while the investigation proceeds.
