Ellen DeGeneres has voiced a longing to return to television, approximately four years after allegations of a "toxic" workplace environment led to the conclusion of her popular talk show. The comedian, now residing in the United Kingdom, recently stated her desire to be back on TV.

"I’ve nothing really going on and I really miss being on TV," DeGeneres, 68, said during an appearance on "The Graham Norton Show." She added that she misses "a lot about it — laughing with the writers and the audience." DeGeneres, who now lives in the UK, also remarked, "I think about doing stuff here. I think it is pretty easy to get on TV here."

She referenced several British television programs, including "The Great Pottery Throwdown," "The Great British Sewing Bee," and "Gogglebox," suggesting a variety of formats available in the UK television landscape.

DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, relocated from Los Angeles to the UK approximately two years ago. DeGeneres previously stated in August 2025 that they moved following former President Donald Trump's re-election and that they found life in the UK to be "better."

"Everything here is just better — the way animals are treated, people are polite. I just love it here," DeGeneres had said, describing the move to the Cotswolds. "It’s absolutely beautiful. We’re just not used to seeing this kind of beauty. The villages and the towns and the architecture — everything you see is charming and it’s just a simpler way of life."

The decision to leave the U.S. and conclude her show followed accusations from former employees who alleged a workplace atmosphere characterized by "racism, fear, and intimidation." In September 2020, DeGeneres addressed these claims on camera, stating, "I learned that things happened here that never should’ve happened. I take that very seriously, and I want to say I’m so sorry to the people who were affected."

She further commented at the time, "We have made the necessary changes and today we are starting a new chapter."

Recently, DeGeneres has been seen spending time with Meghan Markle, another American expatriate living in the UK. The two were photographed together at a pub in Oxfordshire.
