Marieangela King, the wife of Elijah Blue Allman, has withdrawn her petition for divorce and is seeking to be involved in Cher's legal efforts to gain conservatorship over her son's estate. Cher initiated the conservatorship proceedings in Los Angeles Superior Court in April, following a series of arrests involving her son.
In a declaration filed with the court, King stated that while she had previously sought to dissolve the marriage due to Allman's struggles with substance abuse and mental health issues, her perspective has changed. She cited Allman's placement in a structured treatment program through the New Hampshire court system and her ongoing concern for his welfare as reasons for reconsidering the divorce.
King acknowledged Allman's "drug problem" but emphasized her belief that decisions regarding his future should be made with a full understanding of his current circumstances, treatment, and support system. She stated that she made a promise to Allman at the time of their 2013 marriage to support him through all circumstances and has therefore dismissed her divorce petition without prejudice.
This development comes amid Cher's ongoing legal battle to establish conservatorship over her son's financial affairs. The details of Allman's treatment and his wishes regarding his estate are central to the case. King's involvement could add another layer to the legal proceedings as the court considers Cher's petition.
