Crocodile Attack Suspect's Bail Extended in UK

A 30-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with a crocodile attack that left a three-year-old boy with severe injuries has had his bail extended until December 17. The incident occurred on June 18 at Johnsons of Old Hurst near Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, when the boy entered a crocodile enclosure and was attacked.

The arrested man, who is from Norfolk and was not known to the child, was initially bailed on September 18 after being deemed unfit for interview. Police confirmed his bail has been extended. The BBC understands the man has learning disabilities and was visiting the site with carers at the time of the incident.

The boy sustained injuries to his arms, neck, head, and face, including broken bones, and has undergone seven surgeries. His parents reported on a fundraising page that their son has returned home and faces a lengthy rehabilitation period.

In response to the incident, the Care Quality Commission launched an investigation in July into the care the arrested man had been receiving. Norfolk County Council, which was not providing care for the man, has also initiated an inquiry under the Care Act 2014.
