Mummy blogger Constance Hall has raised concerns about the significant financial strain of Mounjaro, a weight loss treatment she has been using. Hall stated that the medication costs approximately $700 per month, describing it as an "expensive. Like too expensive. That's a hurdle."
Hall shared that she had previously taken a hiatus from the treatment due to its cost and a desire to avoid dependency. "I'm in no hurry to shed the kilos... I'm not out here collecting addictions at 42," she remarked. A missed series of appointments also contributed to her decision to pause treatment for about a month.
During this break, Hall noticed changes in her appetite, which she attributed to not being at home and consequently not engaging in late-night eating. However, she decided to resume the treatment after an incident at a waterslide where she was asked if she was pregnant.
She reflected on her desire for the treatment, stating that she wanted to be "healthy and energetic." Hall recalled noticing a change in her appearance in a video from September of the previous year, describing herself as looking "bloated, in a really unhealthy way" and walking slowly, sounding out of breath. "I am now determined to keep moving, keep drinking water, keep reminding myself how good it feels to keep up with the kids and have energy," she said.
Hall also noted the impact on her relationship with food, referencing a moment when her partner, Denim, recognized her happiness while eating. "I love eating, once I was eating next to Denim while he was sleeping and without opening his eyes he said 'you're eating something you love, I can hear it, you're happy eating'," she recounted.
Weight loss medications like Mounjaro are prescription-only and require guidance from a qualified healthcare professional to determine suitability based on an individual's medical circumstances.
