More than 200 runners participated in a 5K race held in memory of Henry Nowak, an event that also raised over £600 for the 2wish charity, which supports families affected by the sudden death of young people. The race took place in Essex, bringing together communities and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Organizers noted the significant community involvement, with local supermarket Morrisons providing water and snacks. The local Sikh community also contributed, offering water, naans, and onion bhajis. A nearby church opened its facilities, providing access to toilets and serving toast, tea, coffee, and hot chocolate.
"It's days like this that help the family keep going," said Lucy Ross, Henry's mother, expressing gratitude for the support shown. The event, described as both fantastic and emotional, aimed to demonstrate solidarity with the Nowak family.
Sylvia Merrigan assisted in the organization of the event. The funds raised will go to 2wish, a charity dedicated to assisting families who have experienced the sudden loss of a young person.
