Assault and stalking charges against Ahmed Al Ahmed are expected to be withdrawn by police at Bankstown Local Court. Al Ahmed gained public recognition after disarming one of the gunmen during the mass shooting at Bondi Beach on December 14.

The 44-year-old faced accusations of stalking and assaulting his father at a property in Bankstown, southwest Sydney, on March 9. He was charged in June and entered a plea of not guilty later that month.

During a prior court appearance, Al Ahmed's legal representative, Mohamad Sakr, stated that the situation was a difficult family matter for his client, who maintained his innocence. Sakr suggested that the prosecution's case had issues that would be addressed.

Al Ahmed had previously alleged that his relationship with his father deteriorated after he reported his brothers, Hozifah and Sameh, to the police. He claimed his brothers had threatened him to demand a share of the $2.6 million in donations received following his actions during the attack. His brothers have pleaded not guilty to charges of using a carriage service to menace, harass, or offend and are scheduled to return to court later this year. Al Ahmed stated that his father then pressured him to withdraw the complaint against his brothers, allegedly through other family members.

Al Ahmed had expressed disappointment and stress over the charges, denying any violent conduct and asserting his honesty and innocence. He stated his hope that the charges would be dropped as he considered them based on false information.
