Democratic strategist James Carville identified Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as the Republican Party’s greatest beneficiary from the recent midterm elections, which saw Democrats projected to reclaim control of both the House and Senate.
"The Republican winner last night was Ron DeSantis," Carville stated on his podcast, "Politics War Room." He suggested that DeSantis can now point to his record in Florida and use it as a blueprint for Republican success, differentiating himself from other potential presidential hopefuls.
Carville noted that DeSantis has managed to maintain a degree of separation from former President Donald Trump, a feat he contrasted with potential rivals like Senator JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. "Whatever chance he had last night is doubled in the last 24 hours," Carville added.
Fellow strategist Mark McKinnon concurred, suggesting that DeSantis could claim credit for Florida remaining relatively red by highlighting his own performance. McKinnon concluded, "The greatest beneficiary of this election may be Ron DeSantis."
