Canada has retaliated against U.S. tariffs by imposing its own levies on a range of American goods, with rates up to 50%. The decision, announced by Canadian Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne, directly mirrors the tariffs placed on Canadian products by the United States. This action escalates an ongoing trade dispute between the two North American neighbors.

The newly imposed Canadian tariffs affect a broad spectrum of U.S. exports. Textiles and clothing, including items such as silk, wool, cotton, yarn, fabrics, carpets, dresses, trousers, T-shirts, sweaters, coats, padded jackets, suits, blazers, tracksuits, and wigs, are among the targeted goods. Additionally, technology-related products from the U.S. will face these new duties. This category includes smartphones, video recorders, camera equipment, and computer hardware. Leisure and cultural products are also included, such as toys, puzzles, arcade machines, and video game consoles.

Other technology items subject to the tariffs encompass television and radio transmitters, cameras, radar equipment, and computer monitors. The measures are a direct response to President Donald Trump's administration's earlier tariff decisions against Canada, signaling a widening trade war.
