Blake Lively playfully referred to her husband, Ryan Reynolds, as her "human Barbie" on social media, sharing a photo of him accessorizing with a floral handbag.

Lively, 39, posted the image on her Instagram Story on Friday, accompanying it with Aqua's hit song "Barbie Girl." Reynolds, 49, was pictured wearing a knitted shirt, spectacles, and a flat cap, in addition to the daisy-adorned handbag. The 3ft dolls were particularly popular in the 1990s, a decade during which Lively was a child.

This social media post comes as Reynolds' new Apple TV movie, "Mayday," was released. In the film, Reynolds portrays a U.S. pilot who forms an unlikely friendship with an eccentric ex-KGB agent obsessed with 1980s American culture.

Reynolds recently sparked a public debate about the 1980s when he described the decade as "tumultuous" and "traumatic" in an interview. He elaborated on this sentiment during a red carpet event in New York City on Tuesday. "The 80s was a brutal, brutal time for people," Reynolds stated. "It was a f

mess and people forget that. It was a tremendous strife. Socio political tensions everywhere. We were still pretty fresh off a Cuban missile crisis, which was only 15-20 years before." He added that while the era is often remembered fondly, with "Top Gun" and "Cocaine!" being prominent cultural touchstones, it was "really scary."

Reynolds also speculated that future generations might look back on the current era, including the "COVID era," with a "rose-colored glasses" perspective, suggesting that people are currently living in "salad days" without realizing it. His comments drew criticism from reality star Spencer Pratt, who accused Hollywood figures of making "stupid crap like this" and alienating "normal Americans."

Meanwhile, Lively's post followed a separate social media interaction involving Candace Owens and Justin Baldoni, Lively's co-star in the film "It Ends With Us." Owens shared a photo of herself with Baldoni, referring to him as her "cousin" and adding the hashtag "#Cousins" in a nod to her support for Baldoni amid his public dispute with Lively. Owens also used Taylor Swift's song "My Tears Ricochet" for her Instagram Story, a track that was featured in "It Ends With Us."

Lively and Baldoni had been involved in a legal battle that began in December 2024 when Lively sued Baldoni and his Wayfarer Studios production company for alleged sexual harassment and defamation on the set of "It Ends With Us." Baldoni subsequently filed a $400 million lawsuit against Lively, Reynolds, and The New York Times. A judge dismissed most of Baldoni's claims in October of the previous year, and in May of this year, following the dismissal of most of Lively's claims, she agreed to settle her case. Most recently, a judge ruled that Lively would be awarded only five percent of the amount she sought for her legal defense against Baldoni's defamation lawsuit, citing "unreasonable" hours billed by her lawyers and "discrepancies" in the claimed expenses.
