Case Keenum is expected to start at quarterback for the Chicago Bears in their upcoming Monday night game against the Philadelphia Eagles, as the team navigates uncertainty surrounding injuries to other key players.

The 38-year-old Keenum practiced on Wednesday, having not played in a regular-season game since December 24, 2023. His availability comes as a potential solution amid concerns for other quarterbacks on the roster.

Rookie Caleb Williams, the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, left the Bears' recent 9-3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings with a right hamstring injury. While not officially ruled out for the game against the Eagles, his mobility, a significant aspect of his playing style, makes his participation questionable. Coach Ben Johnson indicated that caution would likely be the approach concerning the franchise's prominent young quarterback.

Tyson Bagent, who had been in line to make his fifth career start, was placed in concussion protocol after experiencing symptoms. Bagent replaced Williams during the Vikings game, completing 5 of 9 passes for 54 yards before being sacked on the final play. The timeline for Bagent's return to play is currently unclear, with Johnson stating he would be informed when the quarterback is cleared.

Despite the quarterback situation, the Bears do not plan to add another quarterback to the roster this week. They currently have rookie Miller Moss on their practice squad.

Johnson expressed confidence in the team's depth and resilience, viewing the current situation as an "opportunity." He believes the team relishes being underestimated, expecting players to step up when called upon, including those who might not be anticipated starters. The coach emphasized the team's overall talent, suggesting that unexpected players could rise to the occasion.
