A father and bareknuckle boxer, identified as Callum Kerr, in his 30s, has died following a disruptive incident on a Jet2 flight from Larnaca, Cyprus, to Manchester Airport. The flight, which lasted approximately five hours, landed at Manchester Airport around 2:25 a.m. on Monday.
According to witnesses, Kerr had allegedly consumed a significant amount of alcohol before boarding the flight and became increasingly unruly. He reportedly began arguing with his girlfriend, leading cabin crew to move her to a different seat. The situation escalated as Kerr allegedly started pacing the aisle, banging on overhead lockers, shouting at passengers, and headbutting another traveler.
Panicked flight attendants requested assistance from passengers, and approximately three to four individuals restrained Kerr. Images shared online show police officers boarding the aircraft shortly after landing and commencing CPR on Kerr, who was not breathing. He was subsequently transported to a hospital in critical condition, where he later died.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed they were called to reports of an assault on the flight and that a man in his 30s had been taken to the hospital due to his condition. An investigation into the incident is ongoing. A spokesperson for Jet2 confirmed that flight LS966 requested a priority landing due to the disruptive passenger incident. The airline stated that as an investigation is underway, they would not be making further comment.
Tributes have been shared online by friends and acquaintances mourning Kerr's death. Passengers on the flight were reportedly kept on the aircraft for about an hour after landing to provide statements to the police, with some children on board becoming distressed by the events.
