A Buckeye, Arizona man has been accused of orchestrating a plan to have his fiancée sexually assaulted in their home by a stranger he found online. The alleged plot came to light after the fiancée fought off an intruder on October 16.
The victim was reportedly caring for her two young children when the stranger forced his way into the residence. She was able to repel the attacker, later identified as 20-year-old Adrian Ayala, and remove him from the home. Surveillance footage from the driveway captured the confrontation, during which Ayala stated he was under the influence of drugs and that the victim's boyfriend had sent him, claiming she would be receptive.
Ayala, who was arrested the following day, initially told police that he had connected with Dyer on Reddit. The fiancée, Bella Torres, had expressed disbelief and questioned Dyer's involvement. However, an investigation by the Buckeye Police Department, which included reviewing electronic devices, uncovered evidence indicating communication between Ayala and Dyer regarding the planned assault.
Zarian Dyer, 23, was arrested on Thursday and faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault, sexual abuse, attempted sexual assault, kidnapping, and conspiracy. Investigators stated that a motive for the alleged plot has not yet been determined.
According to court documents, Dyer allegedly sent messages to Ayala on Reddit requesting someone to assault his fiancée and asking if he was willing. The documents further suggest Dyer instructed Ayala to proceed even if the fiancée resisted and claimed he had "consent" because he "own[s] her and her body." Dyer reportedly left the home to buy groceries while coordinating with Ayala, urging him to arrive sooner.
During the encounter, Ayala allegedly choked Torres and attempted to remove her clothing. Court documents also indicate that the toddler was kicked during the struggle, causing the child to fall and hit their head. Torres fought back by kicking and hitting Ayala. The suspect then fled before police arrived.
Dyer initially denied any knowledge of or involvement in the incident, calling Ayala's story "bullc***." However, after being presented with evidence of the Reddit messages, he allegedly became uncooperative. He reportedly did not consent to a polygraph examination.
Ayala's bond was set at $25,000, and he has since been released. Dyer's bond was set at $500,000.
