Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski Split After Nine Years of Marriage

Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski have separated after nine years of marriage, PEOPLE confirmed Tuesday. The couple revealed in a joint statement that they have been apart "for a while," adding, "it's proven to be the right move for us and our family unit. We've got each other forever—and it's GOOD."

Seyfried, 40, and Sadoski, 50, share two children: daughter Nina, nine, and son Thomas, five. They were last pictured together on January 9 at a party celebrating Seyfried's Golden Globe nomination for "The Testament of Ann Lee" at Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles.

Following the announcement, Seyfried shared a photo of Sadoski on her Instagram Stories, showing him with a bearded dragon on his shoulder, captioning it "#reptiledad." She also posted a quote about keeping one's heart open and forgiving, writing "Yes yes yes" underneath.

The pair met in 2015 while starring in the off-Broadway play "The Way We Get By." They reconnected while filming "The Last Word," where they played love interests, and began dating shortly after. They married in a private ceremony in March 2017, just days before the birth of their daughter.

Seyfried previously told Vogue that Sadoski "sacrifices a lot for me" amid her demanding career. She also shared that when they first met, both were in "bad relationships," but Sadoski's respectful demeanor stood out. "He never flirted, never disrespected his wife," Seyfried recalled. "That was another reason why I thought, later on, that I could marry him."

Sadoski also spoke of his "love" and "respect" for Seyfried in a 2017 appearance on "The Late Late Show with James Corden," describing their elopement as "beautiful" and "everything that it should be."

Throughout their marriage, the couple largely kept their family life private, opting for a quiet existence on their farm in upstate New York. Seyfried occasionally shared glimpses of their farm and animals on social media.
