ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter is reportedly in negotiations for a multi-year contract extension that would keep him with the network well into the 2030s. Details of the ongoing talks have not yet been revealed.

Schefter, who has been with ESPN since 2009, is known for breaking major NFL transactions and has been a prominent voice on the network's coverage. His previous contract, reported in 2022, was valued at approximately $9 million annually.

The negotiations occur as ESPN's parent company, Disney, recently acquired a stake in the NFL Network and its associated digital assets. Following this acquisition, ESPN has secured contract extensions for other key NFL insiders, including Ian Rapoport and reportedly Mike Garafolo.

Schefter's career has not been without scrutiny. In 2022, emails surfaced showing Schefter sharing a draft of an article with a then-Washington Redskins executive in 2011 for review. Schefter later stated that while verifying facts with sources is common, sharing a full draft was a step too far, admitting he "shouldn't have done it."

He has also faced criticism regarding his framing of domestic violence accusations against players and his partnership in a gambling company connected to Patriots owner Robert Kraft. Despite these criticisms, Schefter remains a central figure in ESPN's NFL reporting.

Meanwhile, other prominent NFL insiders continue to operate outside of the primary broadcast partners, including Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated and The Athletic's Michael Silver and Mike Sando.
