Adam Sandler contacted the Nantucket Police Department's non-emergency line just two days after officiating the wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, seeking to find a public basketball court. The comedian, who is 59, had presided over the celebrity wedding ceremony at Madison Square Garden on a Friday.

Two days later, Sandler was in Nantucket, Massachusetts, with his family. He called the public safety office to inquire about locations for a pick-up basketball game, according to public safety dispatcher Chris Reynolds. Reynolds told Nantucket Current that Sandler asked, "Hey, I’m here on your island and I like to play basketball. Can you tell me where there’s a basketball court I could play on?"

The dispatcher directed Sandler to the Backus Lane court off Surfside Road. There, Sandler joined a game with local residents, including Andrew Kesler. Kesler told Nantucket Current that Sandler arrived in a car and asked to join the game, stating, "guys let me stretch I’m going to hop in."

Kesler described Sandler's basketball skills as having "Great passing and playmaking, decent lay-ups, hesitated to shoot the ball." Sandler's passion for the sport was evident as he was seen playing basketball outdoors in New York City shortly before officiating the Swift-Kelce wedding.

Sandler also shared a July 4th post on X that generated confusion among Swift's fans, as it did not mention the wedding. The post featured an image of an 1818 American flag with 20 stars and read, "Happy 250th America!" Many users on X responded with comments questioning his silence on the wedding, with one user writing, "Don’t care. Violate that NDA and give us something."

Sandler, described as a "friend" of the newlyweds, has known Swift since at least 2023. He attended the premiere of her Eras Tour concert movie with his daughters, Sadie and Sunny. He later worked with Travis Kelce on the Netflix film "Happy Gilmore 2," describing the NFL player as "a great actor and a great human."

Sandler appeared on the Kelce brothers' podcast, "New Heights," in 2024, where he discussed his family's enthusiasm for Swift and Kelce's relationship. He recalled his family members high-fiving whenever Taylor Swift was seen having fun with Kelce.

In previous comments about Swift, Sandler mentioned being nervous about meeting her due to her significance to his children, expressing concern about not appearing cool. He also praised her music, comparing it to The Beatles and noting that none of her songs are skippable.
