Internet personality IShowSpeed, whose real name is Darren Jason Watkins Jr., was repeatedly targeted with thrown objects by Argentina fans during the nation's World Cup semi-final match against England. The incidents occurred on Wednesday as the streamer broadcasted the game live.

During his livestream, Watkins, who has a combined following of over 110 million across YouTube and TikTok, was struck by multiple projectiles from a group of Argentina supporters. In one instance captured on video, he was hit while taking a selfie with a fan and subsequently pleaded with the crowd to stop throwing items, urging them to "just watch the game."

Later in the game, after England scored, Watkins was again hit by a cup to the face while celebrating. He was seen wiping his face and repeatedly asking the fans to cease their actions.

These events come shortly after IShowSpeed reported alleged racist incidents during previous World Cup matches. FIFA has confirmed it has launched an investigation into these claims.

"FIFA strongly condemns racism, hate and discrimination in all forms," the soccer governing body stated. "These actions have no place in football, at the FIFA World Cup, or anywhere in society. ... The FIFA World Cup is a celebration of unity, diversity and respect. It brings together people, cultures and communities from around the world, and anyone who acts in a manner that undermines these values is not welcome in our game."

Similar scenes were reported on July 3 during the Round of 32 match between Argentina and Cape Verde. IShowSpeed was involved in an altercation with an Argentina fan who, in Spanish, reportedly told the streamer, who is Black, to "go cry to the zoo."

Further alleged abuse occurred during Argentina's Round of 16 match against Egypt. During his stream, Argentina fans were seen shouting at Watkins, with one appearing to make monkey gestures. This incident followed IShowSpeed's taunting of Lionel Messi as the Argentine star prepared to take a penalty. IShowSpeed, wearing an Egypt shirt, was seen screaming at Messi and waving his arms behind the goal, just before the player missed the penalty.

IShowSpeed is a prominent sports content creator, having featured FIFA President Gianni Infantino, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Zlatan Ibrahimović on his channel. The semi-final match where the incidents occurred took place in Atlanta.
