A wave of illness has swept through the New York Yankees clubhouse, compelling manager Aaron Boone to alter the team's lineup for Wednesday's game against the Detroit Tigers. Multiple players woke up with symptoms consistent with food poisoning or a stomach bug, Boone confirmed.

"We got IVs going and everything today," Boone said. "Yeah, it's been an interesting week on a lot of fronts. I had a lineup [Tuesday] night and kind of had to make some tweaks to it. Hopefully as the day unfolds, we got everyone available."

Boone declined to name all the affected players but stated that outfielder Spencer Jones was out of the lineup due to the illness. José Caballero started in center field in his place. Boone himself mentioned eating food in the clubhouse after Tuesday's game but had not yet experienced any symptoms.

"I woke up to a lot of messages about overnight stuff from a number of guys," Boone said.

The team is also managing other personnel issues. Ryan McMahon has been scratched from a scheduled rehab game on Wednesday night due to the ongoing situation. He is slated to attempt a rehab game Thursday before potentially being activated from the injured list on Friday.

Boone acknowledged the challenging circumstances but emphasized the team's focus on competing. "Season waits for nobody and no one feels sorry for you on that," Boone stated. "We got to deal with it. Bottom line is we got a lineup and a group of pitchers that can go out there and get this thing done today and try to win a game going into the off day. That's where our focus is."
