Melanie Woods of Scotland claimed her second Commonwealth Games gold medal in the women's 1500m T54 event within approximately 40 hours, following a restaged final. The race was rerun after appeals related to a crash on the first lap of the initial competition.

Woods, competing in her home city, set a new Games record to win the rerun final. Despite the circumstances, she maintained her composure and replicated her initial success, again breaking the record and securing the gold medal. England's Ellis Kottas, who had initially finished second, placed fourth in the restaged race and described herself as "low-key traumatised" by the overturning of the original result.

In the rerun final, Woods took the lead from the outset. Noemi Alphonse of Mauritius and Eliza Ault-Connell of Australia maintained pace for the first couple of laps. However, Ault-Connell fell back in the final 200 meters, allowing Woods to hold off Alphonse and secure the victory with strong support from the home crowd.

Woods, who has used a wheelchair since being involved in a traffic accident in 2018, is also scheduled to compete in the 400m event. The heats for the 400m were set to begin just over 90 minutes after the conclusion of the restaged 1500m final.
