Chicago Sky player DiJonai Carrington has accused her ex-girlfriend and former teammate NaLyssa Smith of infidelity, alleging Smith was involved with multiple players, including two rivals. Carrington made the accusations on social media less than 24 hours after the WNBA All-Star Game concluded.
Carrington stated that Smith cheated on her with Deja Kelly and Aaliyah Nye, adding that there were "many more" involved. Neither Smith, Kelly, nor Nye have publicly responded to Carrington's claims.
Carrington and Smith began their relationship in 2020 while playing for Baylor University's women's basketball team. They continued their relationship through different WNBA teams and briefly played together on the Dallas Wings last season. Carrington announced in November 2025 that the couple had ended their relationship, describing it at the time as amicable, stating, "We're good, but we're not together anymore. It was on good terms - we just grew in different directions."
Kelly and Nye entered the WNBA last season. Nye was drafted 13th overall by the Las Vegas Aces in 2025, and Kelly went undrafted out of Oregon. Both players signed with the Aces in 2025 and made their debuts in a preseason game against the Dallas Wings. Kelly was later waived by the Aces on May 12, while Nye remained with the team. Nye and Smith, who was traded to the Aces on June 30 in exchange for a 2027 first-round pick, were part of the Aces team that won the 2025 WNBA title, sweeping the Phoenix Mercury.
In the recent offseason, Nye was selected eighth overall in the 2026 WNBA Expansion Draft by the Toronto Tempo but was subsequently waived. She later signed with the Atlanta Dream.
Carrington, who had been sidelined with a foot injury, is expected to return to play for the Chicago Sky after the All-Star Break.
