The Tennessee Titans have waived quarterback Will Levis, concluding a three-year period with the franchise that saw him miss an entire season due to injury and become embroiled in controversy off the field. The decision was first reported by NFL insider Ian Rapoport, who noted that the Titans had been attempting to trade Levis for some time without success.
Levis joined the Titans as the 33rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft after a notable slide from earlier projections as a potential number one overall selection. He initially served as a third-string quarterback in his rookie season but was elevated to starter in November 2023 following an injury to Ryan Tannehill. He retained the starting role in 2024, with Mason Rudolph as his backup, but the team finished with a 2-10 record.
The 2025 season was entirely lost for Levis due to a significant shoulder injury that required surgery. He had returned and was competing for the backup quarterback position behind the team's presumptive starter, Cam Ward, who was selected first overall in the 2025 Draft, and ahead of newly signed free agent Mitchell Trubisky. However, his roster spot was ultimately not secured.
Off the field, Levis's time with the Titans was also marked by the leak of an intimate video involving him and his ex-girlfriend, Gia Duddy, in May 2024. Levis's mother, Beth Levis, later discussed the incident in an interview, revealing that her son had spent a substantial amount of money hiring cybersecurity specialists and private investigators to uncover the source of the leak. She stated that investigators determined the content was stolen and that Levis's laptop had been breached years earlier, with the hacking attributed to an Eastern European group targeting attractive couples for attention. Beth Levis emphasized that neither her son nor Duddy were responsible for deliberately leaking the video, refuting online speculation at the time of their breakup in September 2023.
