The Golden State Warriors have signed free agent guard Brandon Williams to a one-year contract worth $2.6 million, marking their first external move of a quiet offseason. The deal addresses the team's need for perimeter scoring and speed.

Williams, 26, averaged a career-high 13 points, 3.9 assists, and 22.2 minutes per game in 66 appearances for the Dallas Mavericks last season. He shot 47.2% from the field and 23.2% from three-point range. Over his four-year NBA career, Williams has averaged 10.7 points in 19.3 minutes across 140 games, with 34 starts. He entered the league as an undrafted player in 2021, signing a two-way contract with the Portland Trail Blazers before his deal was converted to a standard contract with Dallas in April 2025.

This signing comes as the Warriors prepare for the 2026-27 season, during which they expect to be without starting guard Moses Moody for the initial part of the schedule due to a torn left patellar tendon he sustained last March. Reports earlier this month indicated the Warriors' interest in Williams, aiming to bolster their roster following an injury-plagued previous season. The addition of Williams helps Golden State round out its roster ahead of training camp in September.
